Signs for Kids' Rooms
Your kids love the idea that their bedroom is their own! Why not let them personalize it even more with their own special sign?
What You'll Need
  • A picture of each child at their door
  • Coloured poster paper
  • Scissors and glue
  • Craft items like stickers, glitter, beads and stamps
  • To make our sign: black 1/2" wide electrical-style tape, nuts and bolts, a bike reflector and a hot glue gun
How to Make it
  1. Take a picture - Have each child "stand guard" at their door while you take their picture. Try posing them with their hands on their hips or their arms folded over their chest. Then visit your nearest KODAK Picture Maker. Take the kids along with you to help!
  2. Print a picture with a special message - Follow the on-screen directions to Select the picture size you want (8" x 10" works well to display on a door). Scan your original picture. You can use the Edit features on the KODAK Picture Maker, like Zoom and Crop or Reduce Red-Eye, to make each picture perfect.
  3. Make the signs - Here's the fun part! Let your kids use their imaginations to design and make their own door signs. They'll need to add their picture and coloured poster paper, stickers, glitter, beads and stamps, or whatever else they choose. To make the sign shown, we cut two squares of yellow poster paper and added stripes with the 1/2" wide black electrical-style tape. Then we glued one striped square on top of the other at an angle and glued on the picture. Using a hot glue gun, we trimmed the sign with nuts and bolts and red bike reflector. (Be sure to help your kids if they use a hot glue gun.)
